While the most interesting and crucial details on the PlayStation 5 are still kept under wraps, Sony did fulfil its recent promise and unveiled new information about the PlayStation 4 successor during its media briefing at CES 2020 in Las Vegas.
According to Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan, the PS5 hardware will support the following features: 3D Audio Sound, Haptics / Adaptive Triggers, Ultra-High Speed SDD, Hardware-Based Ray Tracking and Ultra HD Blu-Ray. Additionally, the company also revealed the official PS5 logo — which you can see up above.
"There's much more to share about PlayStation 5 in the months ahead, and we look forward to revealing more details, including the content that will showcase the platform and the future of gaming," Ryan said on-stage. Unfortunately, these were the only major PS5-related news shared at this year's CES by Sony.
When it comes to the PS4, Sony has officially sold more than 106 million consoles, which means that the Japanese machine is getting closer and closer to the PS2's lifetime sales of 155 million. Although the PS4 already is the second best-selling home video game console of all time, it may be hard to top the PS2's final result — especially with the PS5 hitting stores this holiday season all around the globe — and even if the PS4 somehow does beat the PS2, it still would feel like cheating, as the PS4 is available in two different versions — the base PS4 and the PS4 Pro.
