As promised earlier this week, Capcom has unveiled first details on a cool little thing that will hopefully enrich your overall Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition experience — the inclusion of a special Free Mode — exclusive to Nintendo Switch.
When Devil May Cry 3 was released for the first time in 2005, it legitimately broke a new ground, introducing players to the so-called Style System, which changed the way we play slasher titles in a major way. Generally speaking, the base game allowed you to pick between six different styles of killing demons, and two of them were unlockable in-game.
The feature returned in Devil May Cry 4 in a completely revamped version — and this improved Style System is officially coming to the Nintendo Switch port of Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition.
Here's how the feature works on Switch: "Press UP for Trickster, DOWN for Royal Guard, LEFT for Gunslinger and RIGHT for Swordmaster. For the special styles unlocked later in the game, it’ll require a quick double-tap of specific buttons. For Doppelganger, double-tap LEFT, and for Quicksilver, double-tap RIGHT."
As a reminder, the new Style System is only one of the three major features that will be exclusive to DMC3 on the Switch when it launches on February 20 — with the other two being revealed on January 30 and February 13. In the meantime, take a closer look at the Free Mode in the action-packed trailer down below:
Dante's past is now revealed as Devil May Cry returns to its roots. Master Dante's multiple fighting styles while battling never before seen demons and new characters as you fight your way towards a brutal confrontation with Dante's mysterious twin brother, Vergil.
Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition is currently available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC (via Steam); coming to Nintendo Switch of the 20th of February.
