The simple fact that Baldur's Gate III is being developed at Larian Studios — the masterminds responsible for the Divinity: Original Sin series — should be more than enough to make fans of Planescape: Torment-like games excited for the threequel. Fortunately, the studio is seemingly getting ready to convince the unconvinced.
The Belgian developer has released a short video on Twitter, suggesting that we're going to learn a whole lot more about Baldur's Gate III in the near future.
"There's been many development since last you were in Baldur's Gate, my friend. It's time to return," Volo says in the video. In case you're not familiar with the Baldur's Gate universe, Volo regularly appears in Dungeons & Dragons titles to give the player information on the quests and overall in-game situation.
The end of the Something's Brewing video indicates that "something" related to Baldur's Gate III will be announced on the 27th of February — possibly including the official confirmation of its release date.
Considering that we still know next to nothing about the highly anticipated sequel to 2000's Baldur's Gate II, any details on the title would definitely make fans of the first two role-playing productions pretty happy.
Developed by Larian Studios - the creators of Divinity: Original Sin 2, BG3 is the official next adventure in the venerable Baldur's Gate series. The announcement teaser trailer shows a return of a malevolent presence to Baldur's Gate, intent on devouring it from the inside out, corrupting everything that remains in the Forgotten Realms. The fate of the Forgotten Realms lies in your hands.
Baldur's Gate III is coming to PC (via Steam and GOG) and Google Stadia.
