MORTAL KOMBAT LEGENDS: SCORPION’S REVENGE in Development at WB. Animation; Will Debut Before July

Warner Bros. Animation has just unexpectedly announced yet another feature film based on NetherRealm Studios' award-winning Mortal Kombat game series, elegantly titled Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge.

Although the upcoming movie will be animated, you definitely shouldn't take your kids to see it, as Ed Boon has already confirmed that the flick will be "BRUTAL" — which isn't surprising, given the subject matter.

Scorpion's Revenge will debut in the first half of 2020, but it doesn't sound like it will get a theatrical release.

The movie is directed by Ethan Spaulding (Batman: Assault on Arkham, Justice League: Throne of Atlantis), with the script penned by Jeremy Adams (Supernatural, Teen Titans Go! vs. Teen Titans).

Here's a rundown of the voices you'll hear in Scorpion's Revenge: Joel McHale as Johnny Cage, Jennifer Carpenter as Sonya Blade, Jordan Rodrigues as Lui Kang, Patrick Seitz as Scorpion and Hanzo Hasashi, Steve Blum as Sub-Zero, Artt Butler as Shang Tsung, Darin De Paul as Quan Chi, Robin Atkin Downes as Kano, David B. Mitchell as Raiden, Ike Amadi as Jax Briggs, Kevin Michael Richardson as Goro, Grey Griffin as Kitana and Satoshi Hasashi, and Fred Tatasciore as Demon Torturer.

As a reminder, Scorpion's Revenge isn't the only Mortal Kombat movie in the works at WB., as the rebooted film series — produced by New Line Cinema — will try to finish the competition on January 15, 2021.
