We have some great news for fans of the classic 2D platformer genre, as British developer Playtonic has announced today that their critically acclaimed Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair will be getting a playable demo very soon; a demo that no self-respecting video game player should miss out on.

For those who still don't know what Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is, the game is a classic 2D platformer that was inspired by Nintendo and Rare's Donkey Kong Country series; fitting, giving that Playtonic consists of former Rare developers.

As revealed by the developer, this free demo of Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair will become available on Steam on the 23rd of January, while the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch version will be getting this demo a week later on the 30th of January.

Playtonic still doesn't reveal the official release date for the game's demo on the Xbox One, but they assure players that it will, indeed, be releasing on Microsoft's video game console.

The British developer has also revealed that the Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair demo will not have a time limit, and that a bunch of levels, Pagie challenges, and Tonics will be available for players to look forward to and get a good idea of what they'll get if they decide to purchase the full game.

Rescue Queen Phoebee’s Royal Beettalion Guard and prepare to take on Capital B’s most dastardly challenge yet in this brand new platforming adventure hybrid! Yooka and Laylee must combine their abilities to take on a series of challenging and vibrant side-scrolling levels, as well as explore and solve puzzles in the beautiful overworld.

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC (Steam, GOG and the EGS).
