UNCHARTED Gains IT Cinematographer Chung Hoon-Chung; The Movie Will Be Filmed in Germany & Spain

After a series of bigger and smaller delays, it looks like the movie based on Naughty Dog's Uncharted series — starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg in the lead roles — will finally begin production at some point this March.

According to Discussing Film, Uncharted starts filming next month in Spain and Germany, with Berlin being one of the main locations Nathan Drake and Victor Sullivan will visit during their first big-screen adventure.

Furthermore, Cinematographer Chung Hoon-Chung has reportedly joined the production crew — which means that Uncharted will see Director Ruben Fleischer reuniting with the man who shot his Zombieland: Double Tap. Hoon-Chung also worked on Oldboy, It, and Edgar Wright's upcoming Last Night in Soho.

Fleischer is now the seventh director attached to the movie, as David O. Russell (American Hustle, Joy), Neil Burger (The Illusionist, Limitless), Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses, Identity Thief), Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum, Free Guy), Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane, The Boys), finally Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings, The Six Billion Dollar Man) were all set to helm the adaptation at various points in recent years.

As a reminder, Uncharted has been delayed from its December 2020 release date — as it will now debut on March 5, 2021, between Mortal Kombat (releasing on January 15) and Tomb Raider 2 (coming March 19).
