The team at Capybara Games has proudly announced that Below, the Canadian developer's divisive "procedural terrarium filled with life, mystery and death," is on the way to PlayStation 4, featuring improved gameplay mechanics.
The long-awaited PlayStation 4 edition of Below doesn't have a set release date just yet, but we do know that it will debut this spring, with the following improvements over the Xbox One and PC editions:
- Reduced Survival Mechanics: No Hunger or Thirst.
- Traps, Damage & Death: No instant kills + All damage depletes player Health slowly through bleeding, giving players a chance to recover.
- Permanent Bonfire Checkpoints: Checkpoints can always be returned to after death, allowing players to continue progressing deeper into the underworld.
Fans of the original game who would like to play Below on PlayStation 4 may rest easy, as its "Survive" mode will be available for the console in the "pure, untouched form for player's excited to test their mettle against Below's original challenge."
Currently sitting at a 70/100 score on Metacritic, 2018's Below seemingly failed to live up to players' high expectations, as the action-adventure game was officially announced at Microsoft's E3 2013 media briefing.
