Ubisoft Reveals First Details on the Next RAINBOW 6: SIEGE Expansion, OPERATION VOID EDGE

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege: Operation Void Edge in the next step in the Ubisoft Montreal–designed online shooter's evolution, introducing players to two all-new operators — Iana and Oryx — who will make their debut in the game really soon.

While Ubisoft will share more details on the duo tomorrow, during this year's Six Invitational, we already know a little bit about these two technologically advanced members of the ever-growing Team Rainbow.

In semi-related news, Siege now has over 55 million registered players, which makes it one of the most successful productions in Ubisoft's portfolio. The studio is also working on Rainbow 6: Quarantine, a more co-operative entry in the acclaimed series that will be released as a cross-gen title by March 2021.

Be sure to check out Ubisoft's official notes on Iana and Oryx — and their reveal trailer — down below:

Iana was an open book – family of engineers, excelled in academia after busting out of the air force for reasons beyond her control. You’ve got to be a pro at keeping a cool head to go into orbit, at least in any kind of technical capacity. She’s stable, sure, and predictable, but that doesn’t mean her tactics are the same. I like what I’ve seen so far, and I look forward to frustrating her attempts to gather intel in future matches.

Oryx was a different story. In that, there isn’t much of one. I know he comes highly recommended by Kaid, that he’s the second-in-command as far as the Fortress goes, and I trust your judgment. Still, those 15 years where he disappeared from local AND international records give me pause. I’ve met him. I like him, or what little he’s been willing to show me of his personality. The problem is, he’s a mystery, and I don’t like mysteries in my line of work. They give me ulcers. But, as a part of the team, I’d much rather he was on my side than someone else’s. And I’m not going to lie – having the chance to observe him more closely in the field will give me the data I need to put my fears to rest.

The Siege is a brand-new style of gameplay embracing the reality of counter-terrorist operatives across the world: intense and asymmetrical close-quarters combat between attackers and defenders. As a defender, you will have the means to transform your environment into strongholds to prevent the attackers from breaching. As an attacker, you will have many planning options to face this challenge and defuse these situations.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (via Steam, Origin, Uplay and the EGS).
