According to Brian Hanford — who voiced the mysterious V in last year's Devil May Cry V — Capcom is developing a new Capcom vs. video game, suggesting that a new entry in the Marvel vs. Capcom series might be on the way.
"Absolutely pumped for the next #CapcomVS game!!! New characters but could be VERY familiar...," Hanford unexpectedly announced on Twitter. The "new characters but could be VERY familiar" part indicates that V may be a playable fighter in the yet-to-be-announced production, but if you've played Devil May Cry V, you know that his real identity makes this theory a little bit... complicated.
The studio has produced a plethora of Capcom vs. games, including SNK vs. Capcom and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars, but there's no denying that its collaboration with Marvel is the most famous one.
The last Marvel vs. Capcom game, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, was released in 2017 to rather lukewarm reviews, as critics and players alike have been complaining about its lacking gameplay and bizarre story.
At the time of this writing, Capcom had not revealed any plans to make a new Marvel vs. Capcom game.
