Eric Chahi, the award-winning designer of Another World (known as Out of This World in the US), Heart of Darkness, and From Dust, will return this year with a completely fresh experience, the PlayStation 4–exclusive Paper Beast.
In Paper Beast, you'll embark on "a virtual journey leading quirky animals through a colorful universe that sprouts from the remnants of the internet." While the Pixel Reef–designed video game is coming to PlayStation 4, the studio is also working on a PS VR version of the game. According to Chahi, Paper Beast VR will allow the player to "feel the environment around you in its entirety. With VR, your gestures are spatialized, so you can fall into a fully interactive, simulated living world."
Although Paper Beast was supposed to hit stores last year, it will now be released at some point in 2020.
To make the wait a little bit easier, Sony has shared a brand-new trailer for Paper Beast, putting the spotlight on the sandbox mode. As revealed by Sony, it "expands on Paper Beast’s dreamlike story and gives players total freedom in spawning fantastic creatures, influence weather, shape the environment, and experiment with its in-depth physics engine."
Without further ado, take a closer look at Éric Chahi's next big thing in the gameplay trailer down below:
Somewhere deep down in the vast memory of a data server, an ecosystem has emerged. Decades of lost code and algorithms have accumulated in the eddies and flows of the Internet. A small bubble of life has blossomed. Paper Beast is born.
Paper Beast is set for a 2020 release on PlayStation VR and PlayStation 4.
