Singer Grimes Reveals Surprising Details on Her Character's Backstory and Fate in CYBERPUNK 2077
While Grimes is busy promoting her critically acclaimed album — Miss Anthropocene — the Canadian singer has revealed that she will not only be contributing to the soundtrack of Cyberpunk 2077, but also appear as a character in CD Projekt Red's RPG.
During a Q&A livestream, Grimes (accidentally?) spilled the beans on her character in the title. According to the artist, she plays pop star Lizzy Wizzy (who was the main star of the Cyberpunk 2077 trailer from TGA 2019). “I did my voice acting for Lizzy Wizzy, that game is going to be fucking good,” the singer said.
“I mean I haven’t played it, but I saw someone play an hour of the game. I play a pop star who committed suicide on stage, and they had to quickly come and perform emergency surgery and replace her whole body with cybernetics while she was dead for an hour. Then she finished the show as a cyborg. One of the greatest pieces of performance art ever made,” Grimes explained.
As a reminder, the Cyberpunk 2077 score will feature songs created by Grimes, Run the Jewels, Refused, A$AP Rocky, Gazelle Twin, Ilan Rubin, Richard Devine, Nina Kravitz, Rat Boy, and Tina Guo, while composer Marcin Przybyłowicz (The Witcher III: Wild Hunt) is working on the soundtrack in-house at CDP Red.
In other news, CDP Red has announced that Xbox One owners who will purchase Cyberpunk 2077 will get a free Xbox Series X update, which will allow them to play the long-awaited game on their next-gen machine at no additional charge. While it hasn't been confirmed just yet, the same will possibly apply to PlayStation 4 fans who will make the jump to the console's already confirmed successor. Take a look:
Gamers should never be forced to purchase the same game twice or pay for upgrades. Owners of #Cyberpunk2077 for Xbox One will receive the Xbox Series X upgrade for free when available. https://t.co/nfkfFLj85w— Cyberpunk 2077 (@CyberpunkGame) February 24, 2020
Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world, action-adventure story set in Night City, a megalopolis obsessed with power, glamour and body modification. You play as V, a mercenary outlaw going after a one-of-a-kind implant that is the key to immortality. You can customize your character’s cyberware, skillset and playstyle, and explore a vast city where the choices you make shape the story and the world around you.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia and PC (via Steam, GOG and the EGS) on the 17th of September.
