Ubisoft Nadeo's Remake of 2006's TRACKMANIA NATIONS Will Be Released on PC This May
Although Ubisoft Nadeo's ambitious QuestMania project is seemingly dead and gone, the French game developer stays busy, as the studio has just announced a full-blown remake of 2006's racing phenomenon Trackmania Nations.
The title was revealed at the Grand League Finals in Lyon, France, and will be coming to PC on May 5, 2020.
According to Ubisoft, 2020's Trackmania will push the series in new directions, featuring "an official season campaign and daily track selections, along with new track-creation options featuring new surfaces and special blocks." As a reminder, Ubisoft Nadeo is not planning to abandon TrackMania² anytime soon.
In an interview with Ubisoft's Giancarlo Varanini, Managing Director at Nadeo Florent “Hylis” Castelnerac explained how the studio's new take on Trackmania Nations is going to work as a live-service game.
"Historically, Trackmania has always had a large amount of content thanks to our players," Castelnerac said. "However, we noticed that after releasing a game, players rush through the campaign and then stop playing. So we decided to create a seasonal game, with a regular official campaign and one daily track selection among all players submitted and peer-reviewed maps. Additionally, we intend to create regular updates of Trackmania for new seasonal blocks or new features," he concluded.
Considering that the remake of Trackmania Nations will hit stores in May, we should learn a whole lot more about the project in the coming weeks. In the meantime, take a look at the game's short teaser down below:
