Pandemic Studios may have been shut down by Electronic Arts, but the Los Angeles–based developer's legacy continues with Black Forest Games' full-blown remake of Destroy All Humans!, one of Pandemic's most beloved classics.
Given that Destroy All Humans! is celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2020, THQ Nordic is planning to revive the series in a big way. According to the publisher, this year's remake is "faithfully rebuilt from scratch," allowing gamers to take on the role of the evil alien Crypto-137 and terrorise the people of 1950's Earth.
The human population of the US won't be the only victim of Crypto's wrath, as the alien's earthly journey will begin on the so-called Turnipseed Farm, where the villain will unleash his weapons on a bunch of poor cows.
Crypto's humble beginnings on Earth will ultimately lead him to bringing down the US government, giving fans plenty of opportunities to ruin humanity's primitive architecture and pathetic military bases along the way. What's even better, the upcoming remake will feature content that was cut from the original release, including a mysterious quest named "Lost Mission of Area 42."
At this year's PAX Eas, the team at Kotaku Australia had the chance to play the prologue of 2020's Destroy All Humans!, so waste no time and take a look at the first chapter of Crypto's great adventure down below:
The cult-classic returns! Terrorize the people of 1950s Earth in the role of the evil alien Crypto-137. Harvest DNA and bring down the US government in the remake of the legendary alien invasion action adventure. Annihilate puny humans using an assortment of alien weaponry and psychic abilities. Reduce their cities to rubble with your flying Saucer!
Destroy all Humans! is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (via Steam) in 2020.
