Brand-New TEST DRIVE UNLIMITED Game Is in the Works at the FLATOUT 4: TOTAL INSANITY Studio
As you may know, the team at Eden Studios is no longer producing big-budget racing games, but it doesn't necessarily have to mean that the French developer's high-octane Test Drive Unlimited franchise is completely dead.
Although some members of the studio have found a new home and joined up with Ubisoft to shape the future of The Crew, Nacon is officially planning to revive Test Drive Unlimited without its original creators.
Back in 2016, Nacon (formerly Bigben Interactive) announced that it had acquired the Test Drive brand from Atari, and the company's Head of Publishing Benoit Clerc recently revealed some new details on the next entry in the long-running (driving?) series in an interview with VentureBeat.
"I’ll give you the company names and studios they [Italian RaceWard, now owned by Nacon] have. The first company is KT Racing, Kylotonn," Clerc said. "They’re based in Paris and Lyon. They’re specialized in racing. They’re doing off-road racing with WRC (World Championship Rally), and they’re doing two-wheel racing with Isle of Man TT. They’re currently working on our biggest project by far, which is the next Test Drive Unlimited game."
There's no denying that the sequel to 2011's Test Drive Unlimited 2 will be Kylotonn's biggest project to date, as the studio previously worked on rather mid-budget games, such as WRC 5 and The Cursed Crusade.
