Intense Launch Trailer for NIOH 2 Brings Japanese Mythology to Life... Along With a Familiar Face

Team Ninja's NiOh 2 is finally releasing in just two days, allowing all fans of the first entry in the Dark Souls-esque series to embark on a dangerous journey as a rogue mercenary wielding the supernatural powers of the mythical Yokai.
Just like the first NiOh, the fast-approaching sequel pays homage to Japanese mythology in many ways.
While the first game was heavily influenced by an unfinished Akira Kurosawa screenplay, the second instalment is based purely on the imagination of the developers as Team Ninja and the culture of Japan.
In NiOh 2, you take on the role of a mysterious half-human, half-supernatural Yokai warrior. In Japanese folklore, the aforementioned Yokai usually have spiritual or supernatural abilities, with shape-shifting being the most common one. Team Ninja's take on the myth will give the player the chance to channel the hero's inner demon for a limited period of time to destroy his powerful opponents with ease, Devil May Cry-style.
Although NiOh 2 has been marketed as a full-blown PlayStation 4–exclusive title, it's safe to say that it will launch on PC at a later date; following in the footsteps of the award-winning original production.
With NiOh 2 hitting stores this Friday, take a look at its surprisingly SPOILER-y launch trailer down below:
