Warner Bros. Was Reportedly Planning to Reveal New BATMAN and HARRY POTTER Games at E3 2020
The ESA officially cancelled this year's E3 in Los Angeles due to the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak only a few hours ago, but it sounds like the team at Warner Bros. will be the biggest casualty of the expo organiser's decision in the long run.
According to Kotaku's Jason Schreier — who's one of the most reliable gaming journalists working today — the team at WB. was planning to host its first E3 press conference during this year's event, joining the show's regulars such as Microsoft, Ubisoft, Bethesda, Devolver Digital and Nintendo.
Just last year, Square Enix made its big E3 debut as a press conference host, showcasing a plethora of high-profile video games, including Marvel's Avengers, Final Fantasy VII: Remake, Dying Light 2 and Outriders.
"This year, a newcomer planned to enter the field. Warner Bros. Games was preparing to host an E3 press conference for the first time, according to three people familiar with the publisher’s plans," he said. As reported by Schreier, Warner Bros. was getting ready to reveal a new Batman game, the long-rumoured Harry Potter project, and even the next game from Arkham developers Rocksteady Studios.
Unfortunately, it's clear that the pandemic has changed the publisher's plans — but announcing these big-budget titles during a dedicated show without a live audience doesn't sound like a terrible alternative, either.
