Gustavo Santaolalla Will Score HBO's THE LAST OF US; Tess, Marlene & Maria Will Appear in TV Series

The Last of Us Writer and Creative Director Neil Druckmann recently took to Twitter to reveal some brand-new details on the Craig Mazin-produced small-screen adaptation of Naughty Dog's critically acclaimed video game.

According to Druckmann — who's also directing the long-delayed sequel to the original production — his longtime collaborator Gustavo Santaolalla will return to score HBO's TV series based on The Last of Us.

Santaolalla won two Oscars back-to-back in 2006 and 2007, for Brokeback Mountain and Babel, respectively.

In celebration of this year's International Women's Day, Druckmann also officially confirmed that Ellie, Riley, Tess, Marlene, Maria, "and a few others" will appear in PlayStation Productions' upcoming limited series.

2013's The Last of Us won numerous "game of the year" awards and went on to sell more than 17 million copies across both its original release on PlayStation 3 and a remastered version on PlayStation 4. After a series of bigger and smaller delays, The Last of Us Part II will be finally released by Sony on May 29, 2020.
