THE SETTLERS Senior Lead Environment Artist Reveals Exciting Details on the Reboot in New Video

Following the unexpected success of last year's Anno 1800 (in terms of both sales and critical acclaim), the development team at Ubisoft Blue Byte is working hard on The Settlers — the fast-approaching reboot of the beloved game series.

In January, Ubisoft released the first "Meet the Team" video for The Settlers, focusing solely on Art Director Edgar Bittencourt. Two months later, the French publisher finally decided to continue that development diary, this time shedding new light on the duties of Senior Lead Environment Artist Casper Wermuth.

According to Ubisoft, Wermuth is basically responsible for "guiding his team to create art that follows Edgar's overall artistic vision, while also adhering to game design aspects, technical limitations of real-time graphics and player readability." If said official footage is anything to go by, the artist has been also trying really hard to make the in-game forests as authentic and vibrant as possible.

As a reminder, The Settlers is powered by Ubisoft's Snowdrop Engine, so we might get visuals on par with Tom Clancy's The Division, Starlink: Battle for Atlas and Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle in the final product.
