RESIDENT EVIL 3 Is an Impressive Effort That Doesn't Live Up to Its Predecessor, Critics Are Saying

The first reviews for Resident Evil 3 have found their way online, and chances are that fans of the long-running horror series won't be disappointed by Capcom's latest effort — even if it probably won't win any Game of the Year awards.
According to the critics, Resident Evil 3 continues to build on the solid foundations of last year's Resident Evil 2, introducing players to more action-oriented gameplay mechanics and a somewhat quicker pace.
Like expected, the Nemesis steals the show, and those who can't wait to battle the monster should be more than happy to hear that some of the best boss fights in the game are focused on the ever-changing beast.
Furthermore, Capcom reportedly did a great job showcasing the downfall of Raccoon City and its profound effect on the game's strong-willed protagonists, Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira. When it comes to the graphics, the reimagined sequel might be the best-looking Resident Evil game yet, featuring spectacular vistas and plenty of nice touches (like more realistic blood puddles and vastly improved lightning).
Unfortunately, it only takes 5-6 hours to complete Resident Evil 3's storyline, which doesn't sound great given that we're talking about a full-priced production. Thankfully, its asymmetrical multiplayer mode — Resident Evil: Resistance — will possibly lengthen one's game time when it finally goes live this Friday.
Currently sitting at a perfectly fine 80% on Metacritic, Capcom's Resident Evil 3 clearly is another successful entry in the beloved horror series, even if it falls short of its amazing predecessor, just like the 1999 original.
Experience Jill Valentine’s encounter with the unrelenting Nemesis in this survival-horror classic remade from the ground up. It also includes Resident Evil Resistance, a new 1 vs 4 asymmetrical online multiplayer game set in the Resident Evil universe. Cooperate as one of four Survivors or as a twisted Mastermind attempting to stop them at every turn.
Resident Evil 3: Remake is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (via Steam) on April 3, 2020.
