Cradle Games' Hellpoint won't be released next Thursday as originally planned, as the action-RPG has been officially delayed to Q2 2020 — and as you've probably already guessed, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic is to blame. Fortunately, one thing hasn't changed, and the title is still coming to PS4, XBO, Switch and PC.
"In light of the unprecedented events facing the world, we have been forced to postpone the launch of the game," Creative Director Matt Boudreau said in a press release. "We plan to use the additional development time not just for polishing, but also to address the feedback we’ve gathered and make Hellpoint an even better gaming experience for everybody! The feedback of the community had such enthusiasm and energy." Hellpoint is an original IP, so the studio definitely won't waste the added time.
Although Hellpoint is the Quebec City–based game developer's debut project, Cradle’s team members worked on series like Assassin’s Creed, Skylanders, Prince of Persia, Spider-Man, TMNT and Rainbow Six.
At its core, the long-awaited title is a "sci-fi RPG with split-screen multiplayer and real-time events."
Those who would like to play Hellpoint now can always check out its completely free demo, The Thespian Feast. With the all-new RPG launching by July, we should learn a whole lot more about it in the near future.
Hellpoint is an intense action RPG taking place on Irid Novo, a derelict space station soaked in an intoxicating dark sci fi atmosphere. Fight dreadful creatures, face the Cosmic Gods and unravel their twisted story. Should the challenge be too great, play with a friend in local or online coop.
Hellpoint is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC (via Steam) in Q2 2020.
