The current-gen port of NieR Replicant is not the only game set in the Yoko Taro–created universe currently in the works, as Square Enix has just released the first gameplay trailer for NieR Re[in]carnation, a mobile entry in the award-winning series. The recently revealed title will be available for iOS and Android devices, but the Japanese publisher has not shared any concrete details on its release date (or even window) yet.
NieR Re[in]carnation is being developed at Applibot and directed Yoko Taro. The development team also includes producer Yosuke Saito, character designer Akihiko Yoshida, and concept artist Kazuma Koda.
Although this information hasn't been confirmed by Square Enix yet, the official NieR Re[in]carnation website suggests that the upcoming project is a free-to-play game with optional microtransactions.
Unfortunately, NieR Re[in]carnation's story and gameplay details are being kept under wraps, so it's not clear whether the mobile production is a walking simulator, role-playing game, NieR: Automata–esque slasher, or maybe something completely outlandish (but we do know that the spin-off will be pretty to look at).
The trailer doesn't reveal much, but it does seem to further indicate that the title will be a Journey-like experience of sorts. Wait no more, and take a closer look at the ever-evolving world of NieR down below:
