Nicholai Ginovaef Will Become New Mastermind in RESIDENT EVIL: RESISTANCE Next Month
Capcom has revealed new details on the future of Resident Evil 3's multiplayer mode — titled RE: Resistance — and fans of its rogues gallery should be happy to hear that Nicholai Ginovaef will join the game as a Mastermind in May. The update will also introduce new gear and skills for the Survivors and their nemesis.
The Mastermind's role is simple: making sure that the Survivors are dead before they manage to escape every obstacle the dungeon master–like figure puts in their way, including taking direct control of zombies.
For those unfamiliar with the Resident Evil universe, Ginovaef is a member of "Umbrella's private military unit, U.B.C.S., and the leader of its Delta Platoon, B-Squad. He previously served in Spetsnaz in the Soviet Union, where he acquired spectacular combat skills. Not only that, but he has an incredible survival record, walking away from operations thought to be completely wiped out. Cool-headed and cold-blooded, Nicholai will make any sacrifice necessary to reach his objective—or secure a profit."
Considering that Capcom has already shipped over two million copies of Resident Evil 3, it's safe to say that the asymmetrical mode's lobby is packed with players and joining the hunt shouldn't be a huge problem.
As a reminder, Jill Valentine — the remake's main protagonist — is finally playable as a Survivor. She can swiftly dodge enemy attack and temporarily switch to using powerful S.T.A.R.S. issued firearms. Take a look:
Experience Jill Valentine’s encounter with the unrelenting Nemesis in this survival-horror classic remade from the ground up. It also includes Resident Evil Resistance, a new 1 vs 4 asymmetrical online multiplayer game set in the Resident Evil universe. Cooperate as one of four Survivors or as a twisted Mastermind attempting to stop them at every turn.
Resident Evil 3: Remake is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (via Steam).
