Michel Ancel's WILD Is Still Alive as Sony Releases Brand-New Concept Art for PS4 Exclusive
The highly anticipated sequel to Ubisoft Montpellier's Beyond Good & Evil is not the only big video game Michel Ancel is currently developing, as his original PlayStation 4–exclusive survival WiLD has been in the works since at least 2014. Although we still know next to nothing about the title, the dev team at Wild Sheep Studio has just released five new pieces of concept art for WiLD, confirming that it hasn't been cancelled yet.
Considering that WiLD was revealed at Gamescom 2014, the fact that it may actually hit stores one day is nothing short of incredible, as its unique premise — forcing players to use their "instincts and intuition to thrive in an incredibly hostile environment" — has aged incredibly well, especially in the Early Access era.
Although WiLD was first announced as a full-blown PS4 exclusive, the fact that the console's successor will make its debut this holiday season suggests that WiLD may also be on the way to the next-gen machine.
Those who just can't wait to play the long-delayed WiLD should take a closer look at Patrice Désilets' Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, which seems to offer a similar gameplay experience. Funnily enough, both Désilets and Ancel have had the chance to direct some of the biggest games in Ubisoft's portfolio.
Rumour has it that Sony will share new details on the line-up of PS5 launch titles in May, so chances are that WiLD will be showcased in the near future. Be sure to check out the aforementioned WiLD art down below:
WiLD is a survival adventure game devoted to the wilderness. Set 10,000 years ago when nature and humanity were one. Experiment with your surroundings in your quest for survival – a simple plant could just as easily save your life… or bring about a swift death.
WiLD is coming to PlayStation 4.
