Otherside Entertainment Is Still Developing SYSTEM SHOCK 3, Vice President of Marketing Says
According to OtherSide Entertainment's marketing and business development VP Walter Somol, the Boston-based game developer is still working on the long-delayed third entry in the Warren Spector-created System Shock series. The information suggests that various reports about the game's behind-the-scenes drama — with its director and lead programmer reportedly parting ways with OtherSide — weren't entirely true.
"We’re still here. We’re all working remotely right now, probably like most of you. Our new concept is coming along nicely and we are really excited about it. We have cool and we think distinctive art style for it and we have that and gameplay coming together in UE4. I know it’s a tease, but I just can’t really say anything about it at this point," Somol recently explained on the official OtherSide forum.
Considering that System Shock 3 was revealed in 2015, it's safe to say that the development process has been riddled with bigger and smaller problems — but it's good to know that it hasn't been cancelled yet.
Last year, Director Warren Spector confirmed that System Shock 3 was "more than halfway completed," so chances are that OtherSide will start sharing new details on the troubled title in the not too distant future.
As a friendly reminder, the threequel is not the only System Shock video game currently in the works, as Nightdive Studios' long-awaited reimagining of the beloved original will hit stores at some point in 2020.
System Shock 3 – The latest in the series of classic, award-winning games is in development under the direction of industry legend Warren Spector and a dream team behind such landmarks as the original System Shock, Thief: The Dark Project and Deus Ex.
System Shock 3 is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
