Second Season of Netflix's THE WITCHER Will Shed Some Light on Cahir and Fringilla's Past

According to The Witcher showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich, the second season of Netflix's fan-favourite show will reveal new details about Cahir and Fringilla's past and their connection to the Continent's most powerful empire — Nilfgaard. Although the kingdom lost the war in the first instalment, it's safe to say that Cahir's quest to find Ciri and "get to the center of it all" will play a key role in the show's storyline going forward.

"I can't wait to dig deeper into Cahir and Fringilla in S2... who they are, why Nilfgaard is important to them, and where they'll go from here.... it's one of my favorite parts of the new season," she said on Twitter during a recent "quarantine watch party." Hissrich, known for writing and producing Marvel's The Defenders and Daredevil, will also co-showrun Netflix's The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf anime show.

Although we still know next to nothing about the second chapter of Geralt's small-screen story, the upcoming season will reportedly focus more on the titular hero, Yennefer of Vengerberg, and Princess Ciri.

Unfortunately, chances are that the long-awaited season won't make its initial 2021 release date, as production on The Witcher has been suspended indefinitely due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

As a reminder, the second season of the popular show will introduce Vesemir — the Continent's oldest and most experienced Witcher — who will be portrayed by Danish actor Kim Bodnia (Killing Eve, The Bridge).
