Reimagined NIER REPLICANT Combat System Will Satisfy AUTOMATA Fans, Director Yoko Taro Says
Mechanic: Bartosz Sobczak
Category: Action-Adventure Games
Although we still know next to nothing about the recently announced NieR Replicant Ver.1.22474487139, NieR director Yoko Taro revealed some truly fascinating details on the upcoming project in the latest issue of Japanese magazine Famitsu. According to the renowned artist, Replicant is "much more than a remaster."
While NieR Replicant Ver.1.22474487139 is being made at Toylogic — co-creators of Dragon Quest XI and Super Smash Bros. Brawl — PlatinumGames is also helping the main team to bring their reimagining to life.
Furthermore, the Square Enix-produced remake's combat mechanics have reportedly been reworked to satisfy fans of the PlatinumGames-developed NieR: Automata (which serves as a sequel to the original NieR).
Naturally, Toylogic and PlatinumGames are trying to deliver a more polished production, including brand-new voice acting performances (it's worth remembering that the original actors are all reprising their roles).
Quite interestingly, 2B and 9S — the main protagonists of the award-winning Automata — will make an appearance in Replicant. Considering that the duo debuted in the sequel, chances are that the production won't be completely faithful to the source material, potentially even featuring a never-before-seen ending.
NieR Replicant Ver.1.22474487139 is not the only video game set in the ever-expanding NieR world currently in the works, as a mobile entry in the series — titled NieR Re[in]carnation — was announced last month.
