World of GOLLUM Comes to Life in First Screenshots; Daedalic's Game Is Coming to PS5, XSX and PC

German developer Daedalic Entertainment has just released a bunch of never-before-seen screenshots for Gollum — an all-new title set in the beloved Lord of the Rings world that will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and PC at some point next year. You read it right, Gollum is a full-blown next-gen production.

According to the award-winning makers of The Whispered World, Deponia, and The Dark Eye: Blackguards, their original take on Gollum is a "stealth-action adventure with an intriguing dual-personality mechanic, gigantic levels, and a densely wrought aesthetic inspired by Tolkien’s own drawings."

Although Daedalic's Gollum is powered by Epic's Unreal Engine 4 (it's probably worth remembering that the popular and widely used game engine made its debut in 2014), the title's environments will reportedly by giant and persistent, "each harbouring several questlines and a range of friendly or unfriendly faces."

Considering that Gollum is being developed in partnership with Middle-earth Enterprises, fans of the original book series can rest easy, as the upcoming game will definitely be faithful to the source material.

Without further ado, take a look at the first screenshots from Daedalic's next(-gen) adventure down below:
