THOR: RAGNAROK Star Cate Blanchett Is in Talks to Play Lilith in Eli Roth's BORDERLANDS Adaptation
According to Variety, Cate Blanchett (The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Thor: Ragnarok) is in the running to play Lilith in the Eli Roth–directed big-screen adaptation of Gearbox Software's Borderlands game series. Reportedly, the fan-favourite siren will be one of the upcoming movie's main protagonists.
Considering that Blanchett has already had a chance to work with the controversial Grindhouse Thanksgiving helmer — the award-winning actress portrayed witch Florence Zimmerman in 2018's The House with a Clock in Its Walls — it's safe to say that she will indeed channel her inner psychic abilities on the big screen.
In the ever-expanding world of Borderlands, only six sirens — wielding incredible, superhuman powers — can exist at the same time, making them even more essential to the player's quest to find a mysterious vault.
Although we know next to nothing about the movie — which has been in the works since 2015 — its script was written by Craig Mazin, one of the masterminds behind HBO's Chernobyl and The Last of Us TV series.
As a friendly reminder, the team at Gearbox Software is also developing a small-screen adaptation of Brothers in Arms, which will tell the story of Operation Tiger (also known as Exercise Tiger) — a series of large-scale (and once-confidential) rehearsals for the D-Day invasion of Normandy that went terribly wrong.
