STAR WARS JEDI: FALLEN ORDER Was the Beginning of "Entirely New Franchise," EA CEO Andrew Wilson Says

Taking into account that that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is not only Respawn Entertainment’s best-selling title of all time, but also one of the highest-rated Star Wars games in history, it's safe to say that EA is planning to continue Cal's adventures. Although the American publisher has not even officially announced a follow-up to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, rumour has it that its full-blown sequel will hit stores in 2022.

During yesterday's EA Q2 2020 earnings call, CEO Andrew Wilson confirmed that 2019's Star Wars title was "a first title in an entirely new franchise," strongly suggesting that the sequel is in the works at Respawn.

Considering that Star Wars: Battlefront III is not in development (with Amy Hennig's so-called Project Ragtag and Jade Raymond's untitled Star Wars production being canned), allowing Respawn to create a sequel to the only recently released Star Wars game that's been well received sounds like a wise move on EA's part.

As a reminder, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is finally coming to Google Stadia, and the Souls-like project's new port will be released at some point this year (alongside brand-new FIFA and Madden NFL video games).

In related news, fans of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order should download the latest title update, introducing not only new cosmetics for Cal Kestis and BD-1, but also three fresh game modes, including New Game+.

Cal Kestis—one of the last surviving members of the Jedi Order after the purge of Order 66—is now a Padawan on the run. Experience this all-new single-player Star Wars story from Respawn Entertainment and EA Star Wars on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC this holiday season. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is an action-adventure game set after Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith. Develop your Force abilities, hone your lightsaber techniques, and explore the ancient mysteries of a long-lost civilization—all while staying one step ahead of the Empire and its deadly Inquisitors.

Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (via Steam and Origin); coming to Google Stadia in 2020.
