Bloober Team's Horror THE MEDIUM Has Been Announced With Beksiński-Inspired Cinematic Trailer

After years of waiting, Bloober Team has finally revealed new details on The Medium, the studio's biggest — and maybe more importantly, next-gen — project to date that will be released for Xbox Series X and PC in the 2020 Holiday season. The developer has been working on The Medium since 2014 (at the very least).

The Medium is set in Cracow — one of the most important cities in the history of Poland — in the 1980s. In the new psychological horror, players will take on the role of Marianne, the titular hero — a hounded by visions medium, capable of interacting across two universes — the real world and the spirit dimension.

"Every one of our games has a central theme that drives its creative and technological design. In The Medium, we focus on perspective and perception. When you change your point of view, you discover that things are more complicated and nuanced than you initially thought," Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno explained in a press release. "The Medium is our most ambitious game ever and we can't wait to show you how we're translating this vision into a psychological horror."

To bring their ambitious vision of The Medium to (after)life, the Cracow-based company has been working closely with legendary composer Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill 2, Shadows of the Damned) and Arkadiusz Reikowski (Kholat, Layers of Fear). According to Bloober, the artists are cooperating to produce the upcoming horror's "original ‘dual’ score, creating truly unique atmospheres across both worlds."
