Nintendo Updates Best-Selling Games List; ANIMAL CROSSING: NEW HORIZONS Has Sold 11 Million Copies
Although Animal Crossing: New Horizons debuted on March 20, it has already become one of the biggest Nintendo Switch games, selling over 11.77 million units in 11 days, which is now the best start ever for a Switch title. Nintendo's back catalogue also continued to perform well in the fiscal year ended March 31.
According to Nintendo, "the total number of million-seller titles during this fiscal year reached 27 titles, including those from other software publishers," as Team Ninja's Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order and PlatinumGames' Astral Chain have both sold over 1.08 million units worldwide.
The full list of best-selling Nintendo Switch games includes Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (24.77 million copies sold), Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (18.84 million),Â The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (17.41 million),Â Super Mario Odyssey (17.41 million),Â PokĂ©mon Sword/PokĂ©mon Shield (17.37 million),Â PokĂ©mon: Let's Go, Pikachu! / PokĂ©mon: Let's Go, Eevee! (11.97 million),Â Animal Crossing: New Horizons (11.77 million),Â Splatoon 2 (10.13 million),Â Super Mario Party (10.10 million), andÂ New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe (6.60 million).
As of March 31, Nintendo Switch has sold 55.77 million units, which means that Nintendo manged to ship 3.29 million consoles in the last quarter. In comparison, Wii U has sold through 13.56 million units to date.
Due to the coronavirus outbreak, Nintendo "may be affected if there continue to be issues involving the procurement of necessaryÂ omponents. In addition, if the impact of COVID-19 is prolonged or worsens further, it may disrupt the product supply." The studio is also expecting delays in production.
