"First Look" Gameplay Trailer for Ubisoft's ASSASSIN’S CREED VALHALLA Has Been Released Online

Category: Assassin's Creed Valhalla

The long-awaited gameplay trailer for the Ubisoft Montreal–developed Assassin's Creed: Valhalla has finally been released online — unfortunately for fans of the best-selling franchise, calling said video a "gameplay trailer" is a bit of a stretch. The trailer was unveiled during yesterday's Xbox Series X–focused Inside Xbox.

According to the publisher, the newly revealed — yet heavily edited — gameplay footage is representative of XSX gameplay, so chances are that this particular Ubisoft game won't suffer from a graphical downgrade.

Considering that the trailer has a like/dislike ratio of 18k likes to 32k dislikes, it's clear that this "first look" wasn't exactly what fans had been hoping for, featuring very little actual gameplay and a lot of quick cuts.

Responding to the inevitable backlash in the comments, Game Director Ashraf Ismail took to Twitter to calm down angry fans. "You rightfully expected to see more today," he said. "We have a long marketing campaign ahead of us, you will see in-depth gameplay and get a lot more info about the game."

Without further ado, take a look at the aforementioned trailer for Assassin's Creed: Valhalla down below:

Become a legendary Viking warrior raised on tales of battle and glory. Raid your enemies, grow your settlement, and build your political power in the quest to earn a place among the gods in Valhalla. Advanced RPG mechanics allow you to shape the growth of your character and influence the world around you. With every choice you make, from political alliances and combat strategy to dialogue and gear progression, you will carve your own path to glory.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Google Stadia and PC (via Uplay and the EGS) this holiday season.
