Co-Op Action RPG THE ASCENT Shines in New Trailer and 12 Minutes of Next-Gen Gameplay Footage

With Xbox Series X hitting stores this holiday season, Microsoft has announced a brand-new action RPG set in a cyberpunk world — titled The Ascent — that is coming not only to Xbox One but also its long-awaited successor at some point this year. The recently revealed game is being created at indie studio Neon Giant.

In the Ruiner-esque game, players will explore "The Ascent Group arcology, a self-contained corporate-run metropolis, stretching high into the sky and filled with creatures from all over the galaxy."

The Ascent will allow players to take on the role of "a worker, enslaved by the company that owns you and everyone else in your district. You get things done, whatever menial task is given. One day, whilst sent on a routine assignment to make use of your skills with a cyberdeck, you are suddenly caught in a vortex of catastrophic events. The Ascent Group, the largest mega corporation on the planet, shuts down for unknown reasons, causing the automated security systems to go haywire."

The indie game will support Smart Delivery, which means that those who purchase The Ascent's Xbox One version will be able to freely play the game's vastly upgraded Xbox Series X edition at no additional charge.
