Systemic Reaction — the makers of Generation Zero and creative division of Avalanche Studios Group — is working on a co-op shooter that will give all fans of the long-forgotten Dino Crisis series the chance to take down large groups of savage dinosaurs. Second Extinction was revealed during Thursday's Inside Xbox event.
The brand-new 3-player co-op shooter will be available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC (its closed beta is slated for Steam this summer). Take a closer look at the official Second Extinction overview down below:
Intense Three-player Co-op:
"Earth is overrun by mutated dinosaurs! Team up with up to two other resistance fighters to take it back in short but intense combat operations."
Battle Mutated Monstrosities:
"These dinos are nothing like the ones in your history books! From electric raptors to behemoth T-Rexes that tower over the horizon, these deadly creatures have evolved into the ultimate killing machines."
Experience Spectacular Action:
"Combine your fireteam’s unique weapons and abilities for explosive results against overwhelming opposition in challenging combat set pieces."
Take Part in a Joint Effort:
"Your actions, together with the rest of the community, will shape the course of the war against the dinosaurs."
According to Systemic Reaction Lead Producer Brynley Gibson, the Malmö-based studio loves "dinosaurs but wanted our own take on them for Second Extinction. We had to keep a balance so they were recognizably dinosaurs, and not the cute kind. These freaks of nature each have unique traits that require different approaches in combat. How they even exist, the root of the mutations, and their seeming intelligence will be a mystery for players to discover over the coming campaigns."
