The Next Generation of Off-Road Racing Arrives in High-Octane DIRT 5 Announcement Trailer

The team at Codemasters has officially announced the fifth numbered entry in the long-running DiRT series, arriving on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X this Autumn; also coming to Google Stadia in early 2021. The title's action-packed reveal trailer debuted at Thursday's Inside Xbox mini-event.

The fact-approaching video game is being developed at Codemasters Cheshire — previously known as Evolution Studios and Codemasters EVO — the award-winning makers of MotorStorm, Driveclub and Onrush. According to the company, DiRT 5 aims to be "the boldest, bravest, most stylish off-road racing game ever made, where intense, competitive action is just the beginning of what blows you away."

"We wanted to go bigger, in all possible ways. Take Career, which hands you a deep story-based mode with a star-studded cast, led by the legendary Troy Baker and Nolan North," Social and Community Manager at Codemasters Chris Groves explained on the Xbox website. That's right, the renowned stars of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and Saints Row IV will lend their voice to DiRT 5's cast of playable characters.

The studio's next big thing (not counting F1 2020) also features a full-blown online mode, offering "the 12-player multiplayer action with playful objective-based modes, the 4-player split-screen for offline frolics with your pals, and even more brand-new features [Codemasters] will be revealing [...] soon."

Without further ado, take a closer look at the high-octane announcement trailer for DiRT 5 down below:
