FORTNITE and DESTINY 2 Will Officially Be Available for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X
It sounds like fans of Fortnite and Destiny 2 who are planning to spend most of their free time playing video games on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X may finally rest easy, as both online-focused titles will also be available for the next-gen consoles. Although the team at Epic Games has already revealed plenty of details on Fortnite's all-new port, Bungie has only confirmed that Destiny 2 "will be on next-gen platforms" so far.
When it comes to the future of Fortnite, Epic definitely won't abandon the world's most popular battle royale anytime soon, as the developer will bring the title to its cutting-edge Unreal Engine 5 sometime next year.
"We will release Fortnite, built with UE4, on next-gen consoles at launch and, in keeping with our commitment to prove out industry-leading features through internal production, migrate the game to UE5 in mid-2021," Epic explained in a press release accompanying today's huge presentation of the long-awaited UE4 successor's core features, showcased in the Lumen in the Land of Nanite real-time demo.
Just like Ubisoft's Rainbow Six: Siege, Fortnite will support cross-platform play, but it's still not clear if PS5 and XSX players will actually be able to enjoy the game together with PS4, XBO, Switch, and PC enthusiasts.
While we're waiting for more information about the Destiny 2 and Fortnite next-gen ports, be sure to take a closer look at the aforementioned Lumen in the Land of Nanite tech demo (in all its 4K glory) down below:
