Nintendo has some pretty sweet news for fans of Mario, as the Italian plumber will make a glorious return this summer in Paper Mario: The Origami King, a brand-new entry in one of the Japanese company's most creative game series. The role-playing title will be released exclusively on Nintendo Switch on July 17, 2020.
Quite interestingly, the new video game is currently slated to open against Ghost of Tsushima, but its safe to say that there's enough room for both of them (they are catered to two very different audiences as well).
"Paper Mario: The Origami King delivers a grand new adventure on Nintendo Switch for players to wrap themselves up in," Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Nick Chavez explained in a press release. "This game marks the debut of the Paper Mario series on Nintendo Switch, expanding the vast library of games with another standout entry in a beloved franchise."
According to the team at Nintendo, Paper Mario: The Origami King will also introduce a never-before-seen ring-based battle system that will allow you to put you puzzle-solving skills to good use, tasking you with lining up scattered enemies and maximising damage. Considering that the plumber's new rogues gallery is crafted from paper, these Heroes of Might and Magic–esque battles will be quite dynamic and action packed.
