Frontier Developments — the award-winning studio behind Jurassic World Evolution and Planet Zoo — has announced that the ever-evolving Elite Dangerous will receive one more DLC, titled Elite Dangerous: Odyssey.
The newly revealed expansion will arrive in 2021 and will be available for PS4, XBO & PC — unfortunately for those who have not purchased Elite Dangerous yet, the base game will be required in order to play the DLC.
According to the team at Frontier, the expansion will allow players to see the vast galaxy "like never before." For the first time, players will be able to "touch down on breathtaking planets powered by stunning new tech, soak in suns rising over unforgettable vistas, discover outposts and settlements, and explore with unrestricted freedom." Thanks to the DLC's brand-new "boots on the ground" gameplay mechanics, fans of Elite Dangerous will finally have a chance to "experience intense first-person combat, kit out your character with an array of weapons and gear, and coordinate with teammates to master a multi-layered, deep, tactical environment where Commanders, SRVs and Starships converge."
As a friendly reminder, Elite Dangerous: Odyssey is not the only big video game currently in the works at Frontier Developments, as the company is also developing an original Warhammer: Age of Sigmar RTS.
Considering that Odyssey will launch in "early 2021," the Cambridge-based studio will definitely share more details on the content drop in the coming months. In the meantime, check out its reveal trailer down below:
