MARVEL’S SPIDER-MAN: MILES MORALES Is PS5 Launch Title; Sony Shares New Details on Next-Gen Sandbox
There's no denying that Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be one of the most discussed games of the year, as the next-gen title will finally give players a chance to explore Marvel’s New York as the main hero of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Although the game was announced at last week's State of Play event, Sony's messaging on the premise of the production has been quite unclear, with the company seemingly not being able to decide whether or not Miles Morales is a full-blown sequel to 2018's Marvel’s Spider-Man.
To clear things up a little for confused fans, Sony has shared some new details on Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, confirming that the project will be more akin to Uncharted: The Lost Legacy in terms of sheer scope.
"Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is an important, heartfelt, emotional and essential experience to expanding the Marvel’s Spider-Man universe. And we hope it will be for you as well," Creative Director Brian Horton (Rise of the Tomb Raider, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare) explained on the PlayStation Blog.
According to Horton, Miles Morales will showcase some of the next-gen console's most exciting features, including near-instant loading, ray-tracing, and 3D audio. The upcoming sandbox will also utilise the DualSense controller in a creative way, but that's everything we know about it at the time of this writing.
Although story details are being kept under wraps, the title takes place just before Christmas break. During his journey — which will be half as long as the first entry — Miles will do whatever it takes to protect his new home in Harlem from an ongoing war between a mysterious energy corporation and an army of criminals.
With Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales launching later this year, we will definitely learn more about the game in the near future. In the meantime, take a look at its reveal trailer and first screenshots down below:
