Brand-New SKATE Game From Original Creators Is Officially in the Works at Electronic Arts

Although this week's EA Play event was rather disastrous, the company did manage to surprise fans a couple of times — and there's no denying that the official announcement of a new Skate game was the highlight of the whole thing. Unfortunately, it sounds like the recently revealed title won't make its debut anytime soon.
The long-awaited skateboarding game's announcement trailer confirms that the upcoming Skate project is in an early stage of development, so chances are that it's being made with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X (and possibly PC, but the franchise has been strongly associated with Sony and Microsoft's gaming systems since the launch of the first instalment in 2007, so the title might actually be a console exclusive) in mind.
Those who have been begging for more Skate in their life should be happy that the untitled game is being supervised by Creative Director Cuz Parry and Game Director Deran Chung, both of whom worked on the Skate trilogy. Sadly, that's the only thing we know about the production, and even the name of its developer (it surely isn't EA Black Box, the studio behind previous Skate titles that closed its doors in 2013) is a mystery.
Quite surprisingly, Skate is not the only beloved skateboarding series that will make a return in the future, as Activision is working on a remake of the first two Tony Hawk’s games — titled Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 — that is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (only via the Epic Games Store) on September 4.
It will probably be a while before we start hearing anything substantial about the brand-new Skate game, so be sure to take a good look at the title's official announcement video from this year's EA Play down below:
