GREEN HELL Sells 1 Million Units; Creepy Jar Is Fifth Biggest Game Studio on Warsaw's Stock Exchange
Creepy Jar's Green Hell has reached yet another sales milestone, as the Warsaw-based game developer's first video game has officially sold over a million copies since its debut on Steam Early Access in September 2019.
Back in April, we reported that Green Hell had sold half a million copies worldwide, making it one of the most successful survival games in the history of the evergreen genre (in a relatively short period of time).
There's no denying that the recent launch of Green Hell's co-op mode — now also available in the game's story component — has been a highly effective marketing hook for quite some time now, as over 884,000 gamers have added the sleeper hit to their wishlist on Steam. With Green Hell finally arriving on Xbox One and PS4 at some point between the beginning of October and end of December, the title will continue to keep selling well in the coming months. As a reminder, its Switch and VR versions are also in the works.
Thanks to Green Hell's excellent performance, Creepy Jar's stock closed the trading day at PLN 1,010.00, up more than 10% from its previous close. At the time of this writing, the Polish studio — which was founded only four years ago — is actually the fifth most valuable gaming company on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
That's right, the Green Hell maker is one of the largest video game development company on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, only behind CD Projekt (Cyberpunk 2077), 11 bit studios (Frostpunk), Ten Square Games (Let's Hunt), and PlayWay (House Flipper). It's worth remembering that the CD Projekt Group still remains Poland's most valuable company and one of Europe's undisputed juggernauts — second only to Ubisoft.
Green Hell is a sweltering struggle for survival in the Amazonian rainforest. Clinging to life, the player is set on a journey of durability as the effects of solitude wear heavy not only on the body but also the mind. How long can you survive against the dangers of the unknown?
Green Hell is currently available on PC (via Steam).
