SONIC THE HEDGEHOG Producer Is Working on New TV Series Based on DISCO ELYSIUM
Disco Elysium — one of the most pleasant video game surprises of 2019 — is coming to the small screen, as production company dj2 Entertainment has officially partnered with Tallinn-based game developer ZA/UM.
Although story details are being kept under wraps, the TV series based on Disco Elysium will be produced by Dmitri M. Johnson, one of the masterminds behind this year's Sonic the Hedgehog. Unfortunately, we know next to nothing about the upcoming adaptation, as the project is in the very early stages of development.
"We’re so gratified at the response Disco Elysium has received and very happy to be teaming with dj2 to expand the franchise for other media and new audiences," the title's Lead Writer Helen Hindpere said.
Heavily influenced by Robert Kurvitz’s Sacred and Terrible Air novel from 2013, the original allows the player to take on the role of a veteran detective with a unique skill set. Thanks to his abilities, the protagonist can either save a colourful, vibrant city or become a full-blown villain and turn everyone's lives into a nightmare.
As a friendly reminder, ZA/UM is still developing the long-awaited Nintendo Switch version of Disco Elysium. Unfortunately, the studio has not revealed any details on the port — and its release date — yet.
