Polish Developer Sylen Studio Is Working on Big-Budget RPG Based on Popular Book Series
Cracow-based game developer Sylen Studio — the team responsible for the long-awaited Dream of Gods MOBA — is developing a brand-new role-playing game based on Michał Gołkowski's Komornik book series.
Gołkowski's Komornik trilogy — which has not been translated into English yet — consists of the following titles: Komornik, Komornik ++ Rewers, and Komornik +++ Kant. For the most part, the series follows the story of the titular bailiff, one of God's most trusted men who has one goal — making sure that the final judgement of mankind goes according to his boss' plan (thoroughly described in the Book of Revelation).
Unfortunately for the hero, the text created nearly 2,000 years ago doesn't mention cars, intelligent bicycles, planes, and other cutting-edge pieces of technology, making his job more difficult than originally expected.
Although Komornik is set in a post-apocalyptic setting, Gołkowski doesn't take the dramatic event itself too seriously, and Sylen's upcoming adaptation will also follow the same path. Quite interestingly, the writer is involved in the development of the game and will help the team embrace the comedic nature of the books.
"From the very beginning, I've been hearing that Komornik should be adapted into a movie or video game," Gałkowski said in a press release (translated by GX). "To them, I always say: be ready, because you do not know the day or the hour. There are no coincidences, everything happens for a reason..."
Considering that the Dream of Gods team is currently planning to release their Komornik sometime in 2023, it may be a while before the Polish studio shares new details on their ambitious "AAA" role-playing game.
