Ubisoft Blue Byte's Reboot of THE SETTLERS Has Been Postponed "Until Further Notice"
It looks like Ubisoft Blue Byte's long-awaited reboot of The Settlers will no longer make its debut this year, as the French company has revealed that the RTS has been delayed to allow the German studio polish the title.
According to Blue Byte, the delay is a result of "an overwhelming amount of comments, feedback and suggestions" the developer has received since The Settlers' official announcement at Gamescom 2018.
Although The Settlers was supposed to hit stores sometime this year, its release date has been postponed "until further notice," which basically means that Ubisoft is not ready to reveal its new launch window (or is simply waiting until the pandemic is over). Considering that Blue Byte's most recent title — Anno 1800 — has sold well over a million copies, Ubisoft is clearly hoping to repeat that success with 2020's The Settlers.
As a reminder, The Settlers is powered by Ubisoft Massive's Snowdrop Engine — and it's worth remembering that Tom Clancy's The Division 2, Starlink: Battle for Atlas, and Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle were also built with said engine — so chances are that the title will be one of the best-looking strategy games around.
Although The Settlers won't be released anytime soon, it's safe to say that Ubisoft Blue Byte's next big thing will be showcased during the fast-approaching Ubisoft Forward event that will take place on the 12th of July.
Get ready to set sail towards the unknown to explore, conquer, and settle on new islands in a brand new medieval fantasy world! Experience the reimagined and legendary build-up strategy game with new features developed by the original creator Volker Wertich.
The Settlers is coming to PC (via Uplay and the Epic Games Store).
