After a nine-year break, BAFTA award-winning composer Jesper Kyd is returning to the world of Assassin's Creed to co-create the original soundtrack for Ubisoft Montreal's fast-approaching Assassin's Creed Valhalla.
If you can't wait to listen to the Danish artist's new score, Ubisoft and Lakeshore Records have good news for you, as the official Assassin's Creed Valhalla EP will make its debut on Apple Music this Friday, July 17.
The EP will consist of the following compositions created by Kyd, Sarah Schachner (Assassin's Creed: Origins, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare), and Einar Selvik (Norwegian musician known for his work on History's Vikings TV show): "Out of the North," "Holmgang," "Kingdom of Wessex" (by Kyd), "The Sceptred Isle," "The Tree of Life," "The Guardian" (by Schachner), and finally "Hrafnsmál - The Words of the Raven" (by Selvik).
For those unfamiliar with Kyd's work, the renowned artists was responsible for the original scores of the first four mainline Assassin's Creed games: 2007's Assassin's Creed, 2009's Assassin's Creed II, 2010's Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, and also 2011's Assassin's Creed: Revelations (which he co-composed with Lorne Balfe).
To make the wait a little less painful, the French publisher has released Kyd's wonderful "Out of The North" — which is the first track in the upcoming video game's soundtrack. Be sure to give it a listen down below:
Become a legendary Viking warrior raised on tales of battle and glory. Raid your enemies, grow your settlement, and build your political power in the quest to earn a place among the gods in Valhalla. Advanced RPG mechanics allow you to shape the growth of your character and influence the world around you. With every choice you make, from political alliances and combat strategy to dialogue and gear progression, you will carve your own path to glory.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC (via Uplay and the EGS) on November 17, 2020; will arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X at a later date.
