Nintendo has shared a colourful launch trailer for Paper Mario: The Origami King, a new Switch-exclusive platformer that marks the debut of the Paper Mario series on the Japanese company's best-selling console.
Introducing an original ring-based battle system, Paper Mario: The Origami King clearly is yet another highly successful game starring the beloved Italian plumber, currently sitting at a great 81% score on Metacritic.
The aforementioned Paper Mario: The Origami King release trailer puts the spotlight on the titular hero's action-packed quest to put an end to King Olly's villainous plan to ruin Princess Peach's colourful origami festival by assuming control of five magical streamers, the protectors of the castle of Mario's greatest love.
As a reminder, The Origami King is not the only game releasing today, as players all around the world can take on the role of samurai Jin Sakai and fight against the Mongol Empire in Ghost of Tsushima right now.

Mario and Luigi receive an invitation from Princess Peach to attend an origami festival and excitedly hurry to Toad Town…but something’s amiss. After investigating the eerily empty town, the duo finds a fearsome (and folded) Princess Peach—she’s been turned into origami by King Olly, ruler of the Origami Kingdom! With five giant streamers under his control, King Olly binds Princess Peach’s Castle and transports it to a distant mountain as part of his plan to re-fold the world.
Paper Mario: The Origami King is currently available on Nintendo Switch.
