Bethesda Shares Never-Before-Seen Concept Art for DISHONORED Team’s Upcoming Shooter DEATHLOOP
Arkane Studios — the award-winning developer behind Dark Messiah of Might & Magic and Dishonored — are currently focusing on Deathloop, an original FPS that is coming to PlayStation 5 and PC later this year.
The make the wait less painful, Bethesda has shared a new batch of concept art for the shooter, putting the spotlight on its vibrant world and main characters — Colt and his personal nemesis, assassin Julianna Blake who will stop at nothing to kill the unlikely hero before he breaks the titular, Groundhog Day–like time loop.
For those unfamiliar with Arkane's next big thing, the project takes place on the fictional island of Blackreef, a haven for all kinds of douchebags and sneaky goons. "For decades, various events and experiments shaped the look of the island," the Lyon-based company explained on the game's website. "Radars and antennas, bunkers, security and communication devices. All these elements give a new flavor to this place – [some] mystery. What a perfect place to set up an eternal party in our own version of the 60s. There’s a certain degree of visual madness – a wide spectrum of situations and a distinct visual style."
Unfortunately for players who are already thinking about purchasing its long-awaited successor — Xbox Series X — Deathloop is a timed PS5 exclusive. Although that controversial decision will surely divide fans, the good news is that Deathloop's PlayStation 5 version will run at 4K/60FPS at launch, putting the system's "cutting-edge graphics and technology like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers" to good use.
Without further ado, check out the aforementioned concept art for Arkane's new major title down below:
The island of Blackreef. For most of its inhabitants, it’s a paradise. But for Colt, it’s an inescapable prison. Thanks to a mysterious timeloop, he’s reliving the same day, over and over, trying to find a way to break the endless cycle he’s trapped in. As Colt, you’ll have to take out eight targets – including your arch-nemesis Julianna Blake – if you ever want to escape. But remember: It’s a timeloop, so if at first you don’t succeed… die, die again.
Deathloop is coming to PlayStation 5 and PC this holiday season.
