THE MEDIUM Shines in New Screenshots; Bloober Team Reveals New Details on Dual-Reality Gameplay
Unlike Bloober Team's previous productions, their first big next-gen title — The Medium — is a completely original third-person project that will bring something new to the table: the so-called dual-reality gameplay.
Although The Medium will most definitely step into the spotlight during today's Xbox Games Showcase — as the horror is coming to Xbox Series X and PC — the Polish developer has already revealed plenty of brand-new details on its unique feature that will allow players to explore two different worlds at the same time.
According to the award-winning game developer responsible for Observer: System Redux, The Medium's "never-seen-before and officially patented gameplay [...] plays out across two worlds displayed at the same time. Explore the physical world and the spirit world simultaneously, and use the interactions between them to solve dual-reality puzzles, unlock new paths, and awaken memories of past events."
Inspired by the works of Zdzisław Beksiński and Salvador Dalí, the game is set in 1980's Cracow, with the player assuming the role of Marianne (played by Weronika Rosati) a woman haunted by a vision of a child's murder who decides to embark on a dangerous journey and find the answers she seeks in a ruined hotel.
To learn more about The Medium's core feature, take a closer look at three all-new screenshots down below:
Become a medium living in two worlds: the real and the spirit one. Haunted by a vision of a child’s murder, you travel to an abandoned hotel resort, which years ago became the stage of an unthinkable tragedy. There you begin your search for difficult answers. As a medium with access to both worlds, you have a wider perspective and can see more clearly that there’s no one simple truth to what others perceive. Nothing is what it seems, everything has an other side.
The Medium is coming to Xbox Series X and PC (via Steam) during this holiday season.
