Bloober Team has shared two never-before-seen trailers for The Medium — a next-gen third-person horror game that will allow players to assume the role of Marianne, a medium who has access to other dimensions.
Inspired by Silent Hill, The Medium will arrive on Xbox Series X and PC at some point later this year, giving you a chance to embark on a twisted adventure — taking place in 1980's Poland — and solve the mystery behind a haunting vision of a child's murder. To do that, Marianne will have to enter a dark spirit world.
"Made possible only through the power that cutting-edge next-gen hardware brings, The Medium renders two fully-fledged and visually distinct worlds simultaneously with no visible loading times," Lead Game Designer Wojciech Piejko said. "At different points in the game, players will find themselves playing in either of the worlds, or within both at the same time, with the game purposefully designed in this way to ensure variety and surprise." That's right, The Medium players will end up spending most of their time simultaneously exploring both dimensions (thanks to Bloober's patented split-screen feature).
Although The Medium is being marketed as a Xbox Series X–exclusive production (at least when it comes to consoles, the upcoming horror will also arrive on PC), it's only a "console launch exclusive," which basically means that the renowned Blair Witch developer's next big thing will arrive on PlayStation 5 sooner or later.

Become a medium living in two worlds: the real and the spirit one. Haunted by a vision of a child’s murder, you travel to an abandoned hotel resort, which years ago became the stage of an unthinkable tragedy. There you begin your search for difficult answers. As a medium with access to both worlds, you have a wider perspective and can see more clearly that there’s no one simple truth to what others perceive. Nothing is what it seems, everything has an other side.
The Medium is coming to Xbox Series X and PC (via Steam) this holiday season.
