After years of rumours and various reports, the team at Microsoft has officially announced an all-new Fable video game that is being created at Playground Games, the renowned makers of the Forza Horizon series.
According to Microsoft, Fable will be a new beginning for the Lionhead Studios–created franchise that will give players a unique opportunity to freely explore a land of legendary creatures and marvellous places.
The first big Fable title since 2010's Fable III (sorry, Fable: The Journey and Fable Legends) is a next-gen RPG that is coming to Xbox Series X and PC. Sadly, that's everything we know about it at the time of this writing.
Although Lionhead has closed its doors and Peter Molyneux has nothing to do with the new Fable, Head of Microsoft Studios Matt Booty believes Playground's next game will live up to expectations as a successful spiritual successor to the beloved 2004 RPG. "I just look at what Playground has done with the Horizon series – that attention to detail, the ability to represent these naturalistic landscapes," Booty told The Guardian. "They also have a real passion for the IP and a unique point of view on what’s core to Fable. Everything I’ve seen as the game progresses tells me this is going to be a very high-quality release.”
Unfortunately, it seems that Fable is still in the very early stages of production, so it could be a while before we hear anything concrete about the game. Without further ado, take a look at its reveal trailer down below:
